Sun Bear

The sun bear gets its name from the u-shaped golden crest on its chest and is the smallest out of the entire bear species. But what they lack in size, they make up for in agility. At our lushly planted sun bear habitat, you’ll see the bears spending a lot of time sunbathing or sleeping on the trees lined up at the centre of the exhibit.

Don’t let their modest size catch you off-guard though. These bears are some of the fiercest in the wild, battling even tigers and large pythons when threatened!

However, being fierce and nimble does not deter poachers from capturing them. Sun bear babies are valued as exotic pets. Check out more bare facts at our exhibit to learn more about our conservation efforts for the sun bears and how you can help secure the future for our furry friends.
